Surf's Up on New Picture Books
If you're tired of surfing the web for the latest and best children's picture books to begin the school year, join in this professional development session with Dr. Janice Lake Betts, Literacy in the Arts Consultant, and Rita Spaulding, 3rd grade teacher in Clayton Public Schools. Presenters will share new and creative ways to engage students and enhance comprehension through various artistic methods including technology with a focus on the arts. Inspire your students to surf the world of picture books with you. Bring the excitement of riding the wave of reading into your classroom as you get excited about discovering some of the newest and best picture books in this short session. Surf's Up! Get ready!
Title Talk: What's New in Middle Grade Lit
There are a ton of new books on the horizon! Join Nicole Mancini, educator and President of the New Jersey Literacy Association, for a look at new titles that will engage readers. Books discussed will be appropriate for Grades 3-6 and highlight diverse stories and authentic voices. Bring a notepad with you because you'll be ready to check out some new books!
